High up on The Ledge, gazing out a window designed specifically for her, will be the statue, The Spirit of Ecstacy.
That’s the statue that became the official Rolls Royce hood ornament. It features a woman leaning into the wind. Sculptor Charles Sykes called her, “A graceful little goddess who has selected road travel as her supreme delight and alighted on the prow of a Rolls-Royce motor car to revel in the freshness of the air and the musical sound of her fluttering draperies.”
What’s this have to do with an antique door?
Like most goddesses, she will remain safely out of reach. Inaccessible, except for a secret stairway. Should those of nefarious intent find this stair, this ancient door – bolted and secure – will thwart their unscrupulous aim.
The opposite, of course, is true. Speak friend and its runes, softly glowing, will allow you to enter her reliquary.
